Becky loves her Disana sac so much that she refuses to wear anything else now to bed. I tried to put her in her night gown instead the other night (I was planning to wash the sac) and she wouldn't let me, saying "sac, sac, sac!". She says it feels "soft and cozy" and she falls asleep almost immediately after getting in the bag. She only wears a diaper underneath, because the wool is thick enough after the felting to be a diaper cover. If it's cool in the house she wears a long sleeve shirt also, but usually just the sac because it's hot (we keep it about 79 degrees in our house in the summer).
I only feel bad that I didn't discover this sleeping bag earlier for Becky. I'm so happy not to have to worry any more about keeping a blanket over her to keep her warm. Wool is the perfect choice for babies and keeps them sleeping peacefully, because wool insulates against heat and cold. It breathes with the skin acting as a natural temperature regulator - warm in winter and cool in summer. Wool is also a natural fire retardant and is the safe choice vs. synthetic fleeces which ignite easily. Synthetic fleeces may also cause your baby to sweat and be uncomfortable, losing sleep at night. With the wool sleeping bag your baby will feel the perfect temperature and you won't ever have to worry again about keeping a blanket on the baby in the cold.
Please note: The photo above shows what the Disana bag looks like after partially felting it. Once it is felted it works great just over a fitted diaper (as a diaper cover). Felting means the wool fibers pull together and shrink, which makes the bag smaller in size (the bags are bigger and thinner before felting). After felting the bag it will also be much thicker. To felt the bag in a controlled way (so you can stop the shrinking at any time), first wash the sleep-sac in a sink of warm water with a lanolin shampoo and then squeeze it out a little to the point where it's not dripping too much. Put the damp sleep-sac in the dryer on hot temperature with a dry cotton bed sheet (any size) and check on it every few minutes until it's the size you want (usually about 10-20 minutes). You can even measure your baby from shoulders to feet and then felt the bag until it is that length plus a couple of inches for growing room. Wool gets even softer and more fluffy feeling with the felting also, which is a nice bonus!
