A variety of studies have indicated that pacifier use lowers the risk of SIDS, and several other countries have made similar recommendations. Because SIDS happens so rarely, it is difficult to do large-scale controlled studies to determine why pacifiers might help; however, because the risk for serious side effects is greatly reduced if pacifiers are used properly, they are a safe and sensible option in the battle against SIDS. These are the best! If your baby won't suck on a pacifier, try GumDrops! My baby hated pacifiers that I got from the store. I even purchased the Soothie which is very similar except the part that stays outside the mouth is round all around, so it would hit his little nose every time he sucked on it. The Best This was the only pacifier my son would take and was given to him from the hospital.
