We used this mattress pad on top of the wool puddle pad (with a stretchy knit-jersey fitted sheet on top).  With this combination, we could simply wash the mattress pad when there were small spills, without needing to wash the wool puddle pad.  We discovered it's not easy to wash/dry wool puddle pads on a regular basis (due to the need to air dry).  With the addition of the mattress pad on top of the wool, the problem is easily solved since the mattress pad takes care of 99% of all leaks anyway (unless it's a major accident with a diaper-less baby).  Natural color.
